Bucket and Spade was a great chalet to stay in. It was very clean and comfortable with all mod cons which were of a good quality i.e. comfy mattress! and was something different to staying in a cottage. The kids loved their ‘beach hut’ and the outdoor space meant they werent confined and could safely run around. The site was quiet and had great access to the sand dunes and a gorgeous 3 mile stretch of beach with a lovely surf cafe close by. The local area of Hayle was a 5 minute drive away (bit too far to walk) and had 2 large supermarkets and lots of independent retailers. The area was quieter and far nicer to walk round than the larger places such as St Ives which was nice for a day trip but very very crowded. I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay and would return in the future.
My partner and I stayed for a week last September. We traveled down from Scotland, as my partner has never visited Cornwall before, and she loved it. We spoke to Michelle a few times, she was very helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The chalets were very clean and tidy, the site was nice and quiet, close to the town of Hayle, and St Ives. The beach is a short walk through the dunes and WOW what a beach it is…..Amazing… We are hoping to be back down in June again… lovely accommodation…

Myself, partner and sister stayed at Clotted Cream chalet in May 2014. The weather down was atrocious with howling gales and horizontal rain but the minute we arrived on the site, the sun came out and it just got warmer as the week went on. The chalet was beautiful, practical and comfortably large enough for us 3 plus the dogs. It was scrupulously clean and well equipped.
It’s ideally situated for exploring the surrounding area and we visited St Ives, Minak, Lands End, Padstow, Mousehole and St Michael’s Mount, not to forget fantastic beaches for the dogs.
The chalet and area were a wonderful revelation and I’m sure we’ll be back soon!
Where do i start its was all fab owner was very friendly and helpful thanks michelle 😀 chalet was amazing decore and cleanliness were top notch location was perfect
close to everything you need for holiday in cornwall beaches, shops , mr b’s ice cream and pastie shops . Price also was very competitive for such a great place . Defo would recommend and be back again didnt want to leave 😀
Chalets are nicely decorated. The location is good and easy to get to Gwithian beach and other local attractions. The site is spacious and the chalets are not on top of each other and there is plenty of space for the children to run around.. They are well stocked. Word of warning on arrival that they are not well sign posted and you need to drive through the neighbouring caravan site to get to chalets
A lovely, clean, well equipped chalet, in a lovely location. Easy access to the beach, about a 15 minute walk across the sand dunes to 3 miles of sandy beaches (with life guards) with great waves for surfing. The beach has a fantastic cafe with delicious food and well equipped with body boards etc. Would recommend visiting St Ives for restaurants and shops. Highly recommend twice as nice chalets, had a great week thank you Michelle!
Had a fantastic week at the Twice as nice, Clotted Cream Chalet last week with my fiance and 15 month old daughter.
As a previous reviewer has said, I am almost reluctant to leave a review for this place as I don’t want the rest of the world to know about it!
Upon booking, Michelle, the owner was really helpful and super friendly and answered any questions I had really promptly.
On arrival we were pleased to see the chalet is every bit as lovely and characterful as it looks on the pictures!
On entering in to the open plan living area it was clear to see the chalet was immaculately clean and well cared for with lovely touches such as a pack of Cornish biscuits, fresh flowers and tea and coffee.
All rooms were lovely with everything you need for a relaxing break, there is a decked area outside with table and chairs for sitting outside in the evenings.
The bathroom was clean in good order with a great shower.
The sand dunes are right next to the chalet and we really enjoyed walking with our daughter in her back pack carrier the 15 or so minutes over the dunes to the lovely beach. (the landscape is stunning with great views over Sy Ives bay, the paths are quite rugged so a baby carrier of very strong arms are required if you plan to take a baby to the beach!)
The location of the Chalet is great and is a great location for exploring the local area. St Ives is a very short drive and Hayle has everything you need including a couple of supermarkets. (Hayle centre is a couple of minutes drive down a country lane).
We were lucky to have family also staying locally on hand for babysitting and were able to sample the local pub (The Red River, which is lovely with great food).
One small thing to remember if you visit, is to take a few pound coins as the meter is coin operated, (we only got through about £8 during the whole week) and are quite heavy users of electricity! being prepared just saves a trip to the shop to get change!
We are quite fussy travellers and are seldom enthusiastic about anywhere enough to leave a review, but we can’t praise this place enough and felt compelled to state how nice it really is.. hope to visit again soon, Thank you Michelle!
Lovely Chalet with everything you need. Very helpful owner who made us feel very welcome. Friendly cafe off to the right with an amazing view-point car park from which you can watch the sunset. Incredible beach straight ahead with white sand and blue clear water, which is not too busy. Nip down the road to Lidl for some essentials. So easy to explore more of cornwall by nearby train or by car. Had an excellent meal at local Inn. A brilliant getaway, so good to find somewhere for the dog to enjoy too – didn’t want to leave and already making plans to return.
We stayed in Clotted Cream in mid September. The chalet was lovely; very clean, well presented and decorated. The sofa and beds were comfortable and the chalet is well equipped. The holiday park where the chalets is located is lovely; pristine and very polite staff. It is a small site which suited us very well. The location of the chalets is lovely, although quite a trek to the beach with young children! It took a while to get there! When I needed to contact Michelle, she quickly responded – she is a very friendly person and has been very good at accommodating us. We will definitely be returning to Twice as Nice Chalets. Thank you for such a lovely holiday.
