If you're planning a visit to Cornwall in November 2023 and want to make the most of your time by the sea, it's important to stay informed about the tide times. Luckily, there are resources available online that can provide you with this valuable information.

By staying informed about when high and low tides occur during your visit, you can plan your outings accordingly and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience by the sea.

The Winter Tides

During the winter months, Cornwall experiences lower tides that bring about a unique and captivating atmosphere along its coastline. The ebb and flow of the ocean takes on a different rhythm, revealing hidden treasures and creating a sense of tranquillity.

As the tides recede, they unveil stretches of sandy beaches that were once engulfed by the sea. These expansive shores become playgrounds for beachcombers and nature enthusiasts, offering opportunities to discover seashells, driftwood, and other treasures washed ashore.

The lower tides also expose hidden rock formations and tidal pools teeming with marine life. Explorers can venture into these fascinating ecosystems, marvelling at colourful sea anemones, curious crabs scuttling about, and tiny fish darting between rocks.

A Slack Tide

Nestled along the picturesque coastline of Cornwall, a phenomenon known as a "slack tide" occurs. This natural occurrence, often observed by locals and visitors alike, refers to the brief period when the tidal currents are at their weakest. It is during this tranquil interlude that the waters appear calm and still, creating a serene atmosphere that captivates all who witness it.

Cornwall, with its rugged cliffs and pristine beaches, provides the perfect backdrop for experiencing a slack tide. As the tides ebb and flow throughout the day, there comes a moment of respite when the waters seem to pause in their ceaseless movement. This fleeting moment offers an opportunity for reflection and appreciation of nature's rhythmic dance.

Conclusion

Silent Disco Beach Yoga, Fistral, Newquay, 26 Aug

Experience the exquisite pop-up silent disco beach yoga hosted by Oceanflow Yoga, the distinguished winner of the national title for Best Yoga Studio.

The Saturday sunset session will be perfectly synchronised with the renowned Cornish sunsets that we are fortunate to witness here in Newquay. Engage in the practice of Vinyasa yoga while enjoying the melodic rhythms of Balearic beats as you witness the serene setting of the sun descending into the ocean. You can spot them by their location on the beach, towards the northern end. Look for the tall flags. This area offers plenty of room for everyone to engage in joint practice while enjoying the sandy shore beneath our feet.

To secure your spot, we kindly suggest making a prior reservation. The cost per person is £12, and this offer is open to beginners as well. During the session, Jen will guide the headphones, supported by demonstrators to ensure a smooth experience for all participants. All you need to bring is a mat or a towel, and good spirit!
